A family Funeral Directors with a proud history of serving their community have maintained their commitment to grassroots sport by renewing their sponsorship of the local cricket club.
Gordon Fletcher and Sons have agreed to remain as the matchday sponsor for Tudhoe Cricket Club, which is just a mile from their funeral home on Charles Street, Spennymoor.
The club have been providing cricket playing facilities for more than 100 years at their ground on St Charles Road.
Colin Fletcher, Business Principal at the Funeral Directors, said backing the club was a great tribute to his father, Gordon, who was an avid cricketer.
“My dad was a great lover of the sport,” he explained.
“He was heavily involved in playing and running nearby Spennymoor Cricket Club for most of his life, however, he had a lot of friends who played for Tudhoe and had strong links with the club.
“Although Tudhoe were in a higher league, I can fondly remember many friendly charity matches regularly played between the two clubs over the years, especially the socialising afterwards.”
