Spennymoor Team Walks in Memory of Much-Loved Dad

Colleagues from our Spennymoor funeral home recently took part in the South Shields Memory Walk, raising more than £1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of a much-loved father and grandfather.

The walk held particular significance for Funeral Director Adam Trees and his brother Andrew, who both work at the funeral home. The brothers recently lost their father after his battle with Alzheimer’s disease, with his funeral taking place just days before the event.

What had originally been planned as a fundraising challenge became an opportunity to celebrate their father’s life while supporting a cause that has touched so many families.

Joined by colleagues, family and friends, the team took part in the South Shields Memory Walk on 10 October, helping to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and the impact it has on individuals and their loved ones.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the team has raised more than £1,500 including Gift Aid, with funds helping the Alzheimer’s Society continue its vital work supporting people affected by dementia and funding research into future treatments.

Speaking about the event, Adam said:

“Taking part in the walk meant a great deal to us this year. Following the loss of our dad, it gave us the chance to honour his memory while supporting other families who are facing similar experiences. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and supported us along the way.”

Alzheimer’s disease affects countless families across the UK, and events such as the Memory Walk play an important role in raising awareness, funding research and ensuring support is available for those living with dementia and their loved ones.

Everyone at the funeral home is extremely proud of the team for their efforts and would like to thank all those who contributed to this fantastic fundraising achievement.

Every step taken and every donation received helps make a difference to families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
