our new premises open at Newton Aycliffe

We are proud to announce the opening of our new Office & Chapels of Rest at Cobblers Hall Village Centre
We have being looking for a location for premises in Aycliffe for the past 3 years, as we have been asked more and more by families and their friends to organise funeral arrangements for them in the Aycliffe and surrounding areas, but finding the right position was a major problem. The main criteria was to have quiet, peaceful surroundings, together with easy access and have enough space to accommodate our needs.
After a long search we found a property that met our criteria within Cobblers Hall Village Centre and eventually we started a comprehensive building programme the beginning of August 2011.
As at our other premises, all the work involved in the internal construction of the new premises were undertaken by Gordon Fletcher & Sons, with Peter & Colin Fletcher both having qualifications and vast experience in the Building Industry, as did their father Gordon and grandfather Tommy. The family ethos has always been that we would never be forced into the family business, although both of us have been actively involved within the business since we were 16 years old, we were encouraged to go to college and university and then if we wanted, return, which we both did. Personally I think this made us more mature when we did, as it is a very mentally demanding job and you can never distance yourself from a situation, meeting each family is different and you can relate to their grief, whether they be young or old, it is never easy. However we get great satisfaction helping people through those difficult times.
Gordon Fletcher & Sons undertook every aspect of the project, from compiling the drawings and specifications submitted to Building control at the Council for Building Regulations Approval, to the actual building work itself for all trades. This included all timber stud work, complete new electrical installation, plaster boarding and dry lining, Joinery work, decorating and floor coverings throughout etc.
We feel that the criteria we gave ourselves regarding the new premises, have been more than met, we have used the best materials available to achieve this, enabling us to offer families what we feel are; Surroundings, Facilities and Service which are second to none, giving you a serene surrounding when you visit and the knowledge that you are dealing with us, a long established, truly Independent Family Owned and Run Funeral Directors.
